Mary Waite is the third great grandmother of Rachel Wilcox Liberacki. Mary Waite was born in Malden, Massachusetts on 22 September 1714. On 4 May 17381 Mary married John Mudge. The Reverend Joseph Emerson officiated at the wedding. In July 1738, Pierre Gaultier de Varennes et de la Verendrye began exploring the Western side of Lake Michigan close to the area where Antone Stankowski would settle in 1880. Another marriage would unite the Mudge and Stankowski families 273 years after Mary and John were married. Mary died in 1758. |
1Although the family data collection lists May 14 as her wedding date, I am using the date found in the collection of Massachusetts Marriages, 1633-1850 which is a more credible source. The May 14 date is the one accepted by other genealogists.
