Information about Individual

Georg Berg was born on 27 August 1824. He married Barbara Muggenthaler on 22 May 1855.

At the time that George was born, Germany was a confederation of 39 independent states; a political system developed by the Congress of Vienna in 1914. When he was a young man, the industrial revolution reached Germany. As a result, between 1930 and 1950, coal production in Germany doubled. Because we do not know where George lived, it is hard to speculate about how industrialism affected him and his family.

Political events in the United States during the 1830s included passage of the Indian Removal Act which would lead to removing more than 15,000 Cherokee from Georgia to the western territories, Alexis de Tocqueville published Democracy in America 1835), Texas succeeds from Mexico but does not yet join the United States, and America acquires Florida from the Seminole.
